How to Cut Costs Around the House

With record breaking heat this summer, we’re all looking for ways to keep cool and save a few bucks. Here are some of our best tips to cut back on costs around the house.

1. Clean out your dryer ducts: If you look behind your dryer, there is a vent hose most likely full of lint. Not only will cleaning this out reduce your likelihood of a house fire, but it will also help your clothes dry faster and more efficiently. This will shorten drying times and let you spend less money drying your clothes.

2. Replace worn out light bulbs: Replacing old light bulbs with more energy efficient LED bulbs will lower costs on electricity in the long run.

3. Install a new shower head: Some shower heads create large amounts of mist which can lead to inefficient showers, while others have more direct streams. Using a head with a more direct water flow will help you save water without taking shorter showers.
